Reverse Brainstorming
Sometimes you hit a road block trying to come up with solutions to stubborn problems. In those moments try a technique called the Reverse Brainstorm.
During a normal brainstorm session we try to solve a problem. We imagine up solutions and as we share them they often times spark an idea in another session member and the idea becomes more refined, or sparks another solution or idea.
In a Reverse Brainstorm session, instead of racking our brains to figure out how to solve the problem, we ask ourselves how we can make the problem worse. Many times this is exactly the type of disruptive activity that will adjust your perspective and allow your group to see things from a different vantage point.
